Scalability Architect – Cloud Computing
Salary Range: 120,000 – 140,000 per year, plus stock options 

We are looking for someone that wants to work on some of the most cutting edge technology, at one of the largest consumer web companies anywhere. Our client’s cloud computing team is producing bleeding-edge technology, dedicated to solving the biggest systems management problems in the world. Gravity is seeking a seasoned engineer/architect with an excellent background in distributed systems and highly scalable web applications. This role calls for a design-oriented engineer who has built large, fault-tolerant, highly scalable applications in an on-demand environment. The ideal candidate will be experienced in all levels of the development lifecycle, from designing high-level components, to implementing engineering strategies, to optimizing database access, to skillfully rendering a browser. 

Responsibilities
  • Designing high level, interactive components to a large, scalable application
  • Build features in Java and other dynamic scripting languages
  • Analyze performance and tune DB access
  • Audit systems for 'single points of failure' and provide alternatives
  • Work closely with Project management to provide future direction and roadmap for new services/features

 Qualifications
  • Bachelors or masters degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years designing and implementing distributed, highly scalable web applications
  • Prior experience implementing a SaaS product offering is essential
  • Experience with Spring, Hibernate, MySQL backends, memcache
  • Strong communication skills/problem solving
  • Experience with Groovy, a plus
  • Experience with Hadoop, a plus
  • Test-driven/agile development experience is essential
  • Experience with systems monitoring applications
