Engineering Manager - LAMP

We are a very well funded startup located here in the Bay Area. We dabble in the education media space. We have built a groundbreaking web platform used by over 1000 colleges and universities nationwide. We are highly profitable and growing rapidly. Due to our exponential growth we are currently looking to expand our team by adding an Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:
  • Command a team of Engineers on web projects
  • Design and develop features and review existing code
  • Initiate design/code reviews and take responsibility for the quality of the teams’ work
  • Collaborate with the Product Management team to determine requirements and organize project rank
  • Deliver on projects in a timely/accurate manner
  • Authority over site operation around the clock
  • Conspire with QA to set test cases and assure code quality
  • Oversee releases, ensuring that all requirements are met, tested, and deployed accordingly
  • Offer guidance to team members both on a technical and management level

Requirements:
  • Hands on developer/manager (50/50 development/management duties)
  • 7+ years experience in software development with 5+ years in web development
  • Solid understanding of industry best development methodologies, OO design, defensive programming, and unit testing
  • 3+ years experience developing on the LAMP stack
  • Experience using MVC model in web development
  • Solid experience with Jscript and Ajax
  • Superb communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams
  • Bachelor's/Master's in CS or equivalent
