Engineering Manager, Cloud Services - Sunnyvale, CA

Do you have a passion for creating high performance, highly available services using the latest and greatest technologies in the cloud? Are you a hands-on and experienced engineering leader who has a passion for building and developing world-class talent, and can inspire the team to their full potential? Duties: 

  • Lead and grow a highly motivated and over achieving development team
  • Create a culture of innovation to deliver a first in class product
  • Take full responsibility for the team deliverables, development process and schedule
  • Bring in expertise from Java & OOP, and participate in technical deep dives and architectural discussions
  • Collaborate across the senior architects, other development managers, product management and QA, and come up with great and yet pragmatic deliverables
  • Prioritize changing demands, multi-task, and think creatively against tight deadlines
  • Work with Operations team to ensure the infrastructure meets the scale and quality requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong track record of leading teams on sophisticated and distributed systems.
  • Hands on technical experience in Java along with a good understanding of OOP principles, problems with distributed systems, scalability, high availability, performance optimization techniques and reliability requirements
  • Must have a can do attitude
  • Superb interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and function effectively in a fast-paced fluid environment
  • Experience with Hadoop and Cassandra based technologies is a major plus
  • Over 10 years of experience with a minimum 4 years of management experience

Education:
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent
