Director of Software Engineering - San Carlos, CA

Duties: 

The Director of Software Engineering will successfully lead and mentor the engineering team through key strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess the technical acumen to be a proactive participant in the technical and architectural direction to support our growing environment. 

Act as a Software Director leading the development of innovative idea-capturing systems for education, distance learning, conferencing, audio/visual and office products markets. Research, design and produce software system applications in conjunction with hardware product development, as well as apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Consult with hardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate the interface between hardware and software, and operational and performance requirements of the overall system.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 12+ years experience with software development.
  • Minimum 5 years experience leading or managing a small team of software engineers.
  • Familiarity with all phases of the software development life cycle. 
  • Development of complex Microsoft Windows GUI applications (C++, Win32, MFC,.NET) 
  • Experience working with .NET development (C#, WinForms, ASP.Net , and Visual Studio .NET, WPF).
  • Experience with object-oriented design & application architecture. 
  • Experience with socket APIs, inter-process communications, and multi-threaded programming. 
  • Experience with client/server programming in .NET and Win32/MFC. 
  • Results oriented and product focused with excellent attention to detail and quality. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 

Pluses: 

  • Experience with software internationalization 
  • C/C++ programming skills in Linux/Unix environments 
  • Cocoa development on Mac OSX 
  • Proficiency with GNU tools and shell/perl scripting
