Senior Software Engineer, Platform – Burlingame, CA

Gravity is currently working with a company who is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their core engineering team to drive the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s product suite. Candidates need to have experience building complex Java applications using database technologies, should be able to design algorithms that solve computational problems, and have a working knowledge of statistics. Most importantly, candidates must be receptive to learning new mathematical modeling techniques, software development skills, and testing methodologies.

The company's developers and managers have all worked with masters of the agile software development movement and have years of experience with agile methodologies. They also use the right tools to get the job done, utilizing Java, Tomcat, STRUTS, Hibernate, Oracle, IntelliJ, Perforce, JUnit, and nothing more. Their architecture is simple yet challenging, and they are constantly thinking up new methods to get the most performance out of their code. Candidates should have the ability think outside the box and work collaboratively to deliver high quality products in a timely fashion. The position reports to the VP of Engineering.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years designing complex enterprise applications using Java/C++ in a hands on environment
  • Comfortable building high performance and scalable applications
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Tomcat, STRUTS, Hibernate, Oracle
  • Solid experience using Java, OOD and distributed, multi-tiered designs
  • Previous experience shipping a high volume of products to customers
  • Best Practice experience, including unit and acceptance testing, readability, and re-factoring
  • Open to learning agile development practices
  • BS/MS in Computer Science preferred
