Project Lead /Senior Mechanical Engineer - San Francisco, CA

We have been searching high and low for a driven individual that can lead the development of cutting edge consumer electronics from start to finish, through the entirety of the product lifecycle. Are you the person we’re looking for?

Projects usually include the collaboration of geographically diverse development teams, including but not limited to industrial and interaction design, product marketing, manufacturing and our very own technical teams.

We function as a flat organization and this individual will be expected to work in both a leadership capacity as well as an individual technical contributor. We are a fast paced, growing organization with excellent opportunity for personal and career growth. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Technical management of complex, multi disciplinary integration projects (ex: Mechanical, Electronics, Software, Firmware, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance/Control)
  • Overseeing client relationships, to ensure that the communication channels stay open this will include weekly reports and meetings
  • Relaying product status and risk concerns to senior staff members 
  • Project management and planning in relation to scheduling, budgeting, and deliverables
  • 15% travel within the US and Asia 

Qualifications:

  • Experience with full development and product lifecycles including business planning, technical architecture and engineering development, domestic and off-shore manufacturing, and quality assurance/control management
  • Ability to negotiate crucial trade offs necessary to ensure a successful project
  • Understanding of user centric design principals and experience collaborating with product marketing, user interaction and industrial design
  • Design experience (products/parts/assembly) for high volume production
  • Background with complex mechanisms, castings, sheet metal, injection molded plastics, heat transfer, structural simulation, DFM, QA, 6sigma, etc.
  • Considerable experience and contacts in manufacturing, ideally in the Asia Pacific
  • Strong comprehension of Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Firmware and manufacturing
  • Successful track record for risk mitigation/assessment
  • Mastery of ProE and willingness to do detailed hands on engineering
  • Ability to maintain the “bigger picture” while keeping track of technical details

General requirements: 

  • Bachelors/Masters in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent 
  • 10+ years’ technically relevant experience and 5+ years experience in project management
  • Individuals must have experience in complete product lifecycle including working with non-technical counterparts
  • Consulting experience is ideal
  • Must have superb written and oral communication skills
