Consumer Platform Architect - Mountain View, CA

Six months old, well funded spin-off company is seeking a bright, well rounded, and experienced Senior Software Engineer with a strong consumer Internet background to participate in creating and launching next version of our product. If you thrive in a start-up environment, enjoy adventure, challenge and growth - this might be a job for you.

Requirements
  • Previous experience from the likes of LinkedIn or Facebook or Google or from smaller Internet companies that have experienced massive user base growth
  • You worked with MySQL or Oracle for at least several years. You know what indexes are and know how to apply them. You may even know how to properly partition tables.
  • You write, read, and speak Java. You know significant features of 1.5, can explain generics and annotations, and know what java.util.concurrency. is about
  • Lucene, Solr, Katta - huge pluses.
  • Experience with building scalable and easy-to-maintain rule engines – another big plus.
  • Familiarity with caching systems, especially – Terracotta.
  • You can speak REST. Experience with Noelios engine would be helpful.
  • You know Hibernate. You know scenarios where Hibernate is useful yet you also know when to stay away from it
  • You are familiar with Spring
  • You have built at least one system based on asynchronous messaging/processing. You can explain the difference between topics and queues and you may even know how to make asynchronous system scalable using one single queue.
  • You are familiar with at least one AJAX framework. Dojo experience would be handy.
  • Familiarity with ETL/OLAP – yet another plus.
  • You prefer preventing problems from happening rather than troubleshooting them later
  • You really like what you do for living and welcome an opportunity to learn even more and/or educate others.

Qualifications
  • BS Computer Science or Equivalent (top-tier school is a plus)
  • Extensive amount of hands-on experience
  • Collaborative team player as well as independent individual contributor
